Kids Blowing Bubbles

In the neighborhood
for the neighborhood

Westside Compassionate Ministries is a home in West Medford for neighborhood youth to find refuge, receive wholistic care, and experience God’s love.

Programs we offer

After School Program

After School Program

We offer a free after-school program for Washington Elementary students during the week for about 30 kids. Our program hours run

2:30-4:30pm on M-T-TH-F

and 1-4:30pm on Wed.

Everyday they are greeted warmly by our volunteers and given a snack. We play, have a family meeting, read good books, memorize Bible verses and find ways to engage our hearts, minds and imaginations.

Bible Club

Bible Club

Westside has partnered with Washington Elementary to teach a weekly Bible story to students who sign up for our Bible Club program. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we walk the kids over from the school to the minstry house, eat lunch, teach a Bible story, and walk them back. We are so grateful that God has opened the door for Bible Club to be taught at the ministry house during school hours for students in Kindergarten all the way up to 5th grade!

Outdoor program

Westside Outside

Now more than ever kids need to put the screens down and get into nature! During the warm months, students from our after school program can sign up for Westside Outside. Every Friday we load up in the ministry vehicles and head out to the Jacksonville trails to have fun, exercise, encourage one another, and notice God’s beauty all around us.

Washington Elementary

Connecting with Washington Elementary

Every chance we get we look for opportunities to love on and encourage the Washington staff and the families of our students. In the past this has looked like washing teachers' cars, writing encouraging notes, giving goodie bags and gift cards, sending donated food home with students, doing a family Christmas party, hosting class events, and catering teacher luncheons at the house.

Ways to get involved

TIME

Most of our volunteers pick one day of the week they'd like to come hang out with the kids and continue to come that same day throughout the year.

We also have one time events that require extra volunteer help.

If you're interested in volunteering in either of these ways- please send us a message and let us know what time frame you're available.

SKILLS

If you have a specific skill you'd like to share or teach the kids, we are always open for fun or unique projects outside the norm of our weekly routines.

Or if you are a construction or yard/garden person, we always have odd jobs to tackle when the kids aren't around and during the summer months.

If this describes how you'd like to get involved, send us a message and let us know how'd you'd like to help.

Giving financially to the ministry ensures that logistics can be taken care of so we can be more fully present to these kids.

Beyond a financial gift, we are always in need of healthy or homemade snacks for the kids.

Or if you'd like to purchase specific toys or equipment for the kids or property we have an Amazon List HERE.
